The Wood family celebrate their awards success with Lesley Larg of Thorntons and 2015 host Nick Hewer.

Success in the Courier Business Awards filled a family with pride and gave them confidence about what they can achieve.

Sarah Wood MacGregor, partner of Wood Leisure, was speaking of their triumph in the Family Business of the Year category at last year’s event.

She also encouraged businesses to follow in their footsteps by taking part in the 2016 awards, the entries deadline for which expires on July 1.

Colin and Margaret Wood purchased Blairgowrie Holiday Park 30 years ago and built the business up to achieve VisitScotland five-star status.

With Loch Lomond, Bridge of Cally, Deeside and Stirlingshire coming into the fold, the couple have been joined by daughters Rachel, Kirsty and Sarah to run the successful enterprise.

They followed The Courier success by winning the Best Caravan site accolade in the Scottish Hospitality Awards.

Sarah said the family will never forget their success at The Courier event.

“With tough competition we were honoured to be shortlisted, but to win was such a great achievement,” she said.

“We were overwhelmed with the quality, service and entertainment at the event, and the award itself was a great boost.

“It reinforced our strong family values and the ethos which we have built the business on, as well as promoting these strengths to our customers.

“Many businesses state they are family run, but the award just proved how involved and committed our family have been in creating a successful holiday business.”

Entries for the 2016 Courier Business Awards – which are again being held in association with chartered accountants Henderson Loggie – can be completed at www.thecourierbusinessawards.com.

It is free to take part, and companies are welcome to enter as many categories as they see fit.

The black-tie awards celebration will be held at Dundee’s Apex City Quay hotel on Saturday October 29.
