Major Scottish law firm MacRoberts has increased its turnover, profits and headcount.
Draft accounts in the year-end to April 2016 show turnover up by 10% to £19.78 million, profits climbing 12% to £6.9m, and the firm’s headcount increasing by 12% to more than 200 across its offices in Dundee, Glasgow and Edinburgh.
The year also saw MacRoberts establish Scotland’s first corporate defence team, headed by John McGovern, specialising in the defence of high-profile corporate criminal prosecutions.
New clients include Breedon Group, Fife College, Perth & Kinross Council and the Scottish Fire & Rescue Service.
It has also retained its place on the legal framework panel for Scottish Government work.
MacRoberts’ Dundee office has tripled in size since its opening in 2013.
Managing partner John Macmillan said: “Against a backdrop of continuing market uncertainty and political volatility, we have grown our turnover and profit, and generated new business from both new and existing clients.
“It has been a really interesting time for the firm, with signs of increased activity in a number of sectors, particularly investments, energy and public sector, and we are looking forward to seeing that continue.”
