Dave Tudor, vice president of primary supply for pharmaceutical giant GSK, has been appointed chairman of the Scottish Life Sciences Industry Leadership Group.
Mr Tudor, who has a strong connection with GSK’s plant in Montrose, will play an instrumental role in driving forward the industry’s ambition for growth.
In his present role with responsibility for global Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients manufacture and supply, his network of GSK sites includes his Irvine base and Montrose in Scotland, Ulverston and Worthing in England, Cork in Ireland and two sites in Singapore.
Before his promotion to that post in 2011, he was director of GSK’s Montrose site where he led its transformation to manufacture over 12 products and a major investment programme.
With over 20 years of industry experience, Mr Tudor also plays an active role with the Scottish Government and is a member of the Life Sciences Advisory Board and the UK Chemicals Industry Association Council.
The leadership group is a joint industry, enterprise, academia and government strategic team that aims to help ensure Scotland is creating and shaping the best possible environment for fledgling technologies and established players alike in the sector.
Mr Tudor said: “I am both delighted and excited about taking on the role of chairing the Scottish Life Sciences Industry Leadership Group.
“I am extremely passionate about the life science industry and very proud of Scotland’s contribution within it. Life sciences improve the health and wellbeing of millions of people, not just nationally, but around the globe.
He succeeds Dr John Brown, who said: “Dave is ideal for the role, which is key to advising and informing government on issues of strategic importance to the life sciences sector.”
Minister for Business, Innovation and Energy Paul Wheelhouse said: “Dave is already a valued member of LSS and has contributed significantly to the group’s ambition to ensure the industry’s success in Scotland.
“His knowledge of the industry and expertise, not only in Scotland but globally, are incredible assets and I have no doubt that his proven track record and excellent leadership skills will be of huge benefit.”
