Dundee United co-owner Justine Mitchell won the Inspirational Woman of the Year prize at the Business Women Scotland awards.
The daughter of late chairman Eddie Thompson lost her husband Ken and father within days of each other in 2008 but rallied to make a successful life for herself and her son.
Her achievements in starting the Dundee United women’s team, joint-chairing the Scottish Women’s Football Association’s board and starting a spa business in Edinburgh was said by the award judges to be inspirational.
She was one of four winners with Tayside collections at the event run by Business Women Scotland magazine and supported by the Federation of Small Businesses.
Tanya Ewing of Glaze & Save, a Perth firm which supplies polycarbonate and magnet secondary glazing to turn single glazing into double glazing, won the New Business of the Year prize.
Theresa Wishart of Journeycall, the Arbroath-based transport contact centre for clients including Transport for London, was the Employer of the Year.
Lesley Thomson, managing director of Spreng Thomson, the Glasgow-based public relations firm who began her career as a journalist with DC Thomson in Dundee, was Mentor of the Year.
