A new Regatta shop will open its doors at Dundee’s Overgate Shopping Centre this month.
The ground floor unit that previously housed Oasis will become the latest outlet for the outdoor clothing chain.
The new store will create seven jobs.
It follows fashion shop DV8 and Barrhead Travel moving into the Overgate Shopping Centre in the past six months.
Centre manager Malcolm Angus hails the “positive development”.
He said: “Regatta is a popular brand that will appeal to many of Overgate’s customers who enjoy a love of the great outdoors, as well as those who appreciate practical but stylish daywear at an affordable price.
“We are delighted to welcome Regatta to Overgate and expect it to be well received when it opens later this month.”
What’s in the Overgate fashion store?
Regatta was founded in Manchester in 1981 and has more than 60 retail stores and partners in the UK, including a St Andrews branch.
The Overgate store’s range will include performance-led outdoor clothing for hiking, biking, camping, commuting, gardening and dog-walking. It will also have casual daywear ranges.
Regatta recently launched a jacket with a 55 Lumens torch built into the hood with 15 hours of battery life and a collection made from millions of recycled bottles.
To help promote young people getting outdoors, Regatta launched its first licensed partnership with Hasbro’s Peppa Pig.
TV presenter Rochelle Humes is the current face of the brand.
Regatta’s retail director Jo Black said: “This is an exciting time for the Regatta brand to be opening in Overgate.
“Dundee is a fabulous market place and our customers can expect to enjoy great service and a range of brands suitable for all the family.
“We look forward to inspiring more people to fall in love with the great outdoors.”
The unit used to be Oasis until it went into administration in April 2020.
Meanwhile Overgate is continuing to look for a new tenant for the former-Debenhams unit.
