Work began in the Autumn on Peter Vardy’s new £7.2 million Dundee CarStore and the steel framework has now been erected. The new car supermarket’s site at Dunsinsane Industrial estate has lain empty for years since the flattening of the former Valentine’s factory. Overlooking the Kingsway, the 8.5 acre brownfield site is one of the most prominent industrial spaces in the city. Construction of the new CarStore building is currently supporting scores of workers, with the build expected to be complete in the Spring. The finished building – which is modelled on Peter Vardy’s Hillington CarStore in Glasgow – will support around 70 car sales and administration posts. The group revealed earlier this year they had received more than 1,000 applications for jobs at the new CarStore site.
