Work is under way on a new Marston’s family pub restaurant in Kirkcaldy, the second part of a proposed investment in Fife totalling more than £9 million and which would create in excess of 135 jobs.
The 150 cover pub restaurant in the John Smith Business Park is due for completion and opening to the public in June 2017.
The £2.7 million development will employ around 45 full time and part-time staff.
Called the Spiral Weave and offering meals seven days a week , it will the 14th family pub restaurant opened by Marston’s in Scotland since 2013.
Adrian Blackburn, acquisition manager for Marston’s, said: “The development is set to feature a new 150-seater individually designed premises with a 57-space car park.
“There will also be external seating terraced areas, a children’s external play area and beer gardens.”
He added: “We have great hopes for our investment in this part of Fife, and we are delighted with the success of the family pub restaurant and lodge at Fife Leisure Park, Dunfermline.
“We aim to continue to invest in the area and we will hopefully follow this with investment in 2017/18 at Dalgety Bay.
“If we are able to complete all three locations, each representing in excess of £3m inward investment into Fife by Marston’s since 2014, it will create more than 135 permanent new jobs, and well over 600 new jobs across Scotland in three years”.
Councillor Lesley Laird, Fife Council’s spokesperson for economy and planning, said: “This facility will support the further development of the John Smith Business Park by providing much needed amenities for local businesses, as well as visitors to the region and local people.
“Marston’s further investment in Fife is very much welcomed, as is the new employment opportunities that it will create.”
Councillor Neil Crooks, chair of the Kirkcaldy area committee, said: “This development will provide important amenities for businesses and their staff.
“It also makes this premier site even more attractive to investors and anyone seeking to grow their business.”
