The former Edinburgh Woollen Mill in Dundee will be transformed into a male grooming salon this summer, after a six-figure investment.
Micro-investment firm CAM Ventures has backed the new venture, The Mantuary.
The investment company was set up last summer by Campbell Archibald and Will Macpherson.
They launched the business to help people who were made redundant during the pandemic.
It also aims to give those looking for a fresh start in the industry the opportunity to do so by supporting their ventures.
The business has already invested in canned cocktail company Angels Dare and Brechin’s Angus Grill and Larder.
Dundee Salon investment marks milestone
Now CAM Ventures is making its third investment as it marks its first anniversary.
The six-figure investment in the Dundee city centre salon takes CAM’s total funding given in its first year over £500,000.
The Mantuary will offer manicures, pedicures and some holistic therapies along with barber treatments.
Mr Macpherson said: “Creating this brand-new male grooming concept is something we’ve been working on for a while, so we’re thrilled to see it come to fruition.
“In designing The Mantuary, we’ve created a space which guys can enjoy alone, or with friends, indulging in a few treatments, then leave looking and feeling refreshed.”
The salon will open in the former Edinburgh Woollen Mill unit on Commercial Street.
The store is 218 sq metres over two levels.
Edinburgh Woollen Mill was a feature of the street since at least the early 1980s, but closed as the company made cutbacks due to the pandemic.
It is hoped the new salon, which will create five new jobs initially, will open in August.
