Dundee-based legal firm Blackadders reported a further year of impressive rises in turnover and profits.
The limited liability partnership with a network of offices covering Perth, Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow, delivered revenue of £11.7 million in the year to March 2016.
The rise of 14.3% was less than the 21% increase from the previous year but the 2016 period included costs associated with its merger with Boyle Shaughnessy of Glasgow.
Profit for the year before remuneration to members and profit share was up 14.8% at £3m, a slightly higher rise than the previous year.
Blackadders had 24 members in 2016 with the average profit per member up 14.8% at £127,860.
The profit share of the highest paid member was £200,294.
The law firm now has more than 220 staff including 25 partners after previous mergers with the Edinburgh practice of Colin Blaikie and with Condies in Perth. It also has branches in Arbroath and Forfar.
From headquarters in Reform Street, Dundee, it prides itself on its quality of service across the legal spectrum and also including property, wealth management and investment advice.
Scott Williamson has taken over as chairman from Sandy Meiklejohn who retired after 42 years service.
Managing partner Johnston Clark said: “We are delighted that our strategy of sustainable growth across all our service lines has continued to pay off and we are now firmly settled into Glasgow.
“We are attracting good lawyers from other firms as well as developing our own talent to address long term succession planning.
“Our profitability is good , allowing us to invest in our people , technology and new service lines.
Asked if Blackadders is looking for more growth and merger opportunities to further extend its Scottish presence, he said: “We are working our way through a long term strategy to position the firm and its brand at the quality end of the national market in our practice areas.
“We are always on the lookout for suitable mergers or lateral hires to help achieve that.”
