The co-founder of a Perth hair salon said he was blown away after it was named the best in Scotland.
The best hair salon of the year at the Scottish Hair and Beauty Awards (SHABA) was awarded to F&K Hair Lounge.
The business is run by Glen Fettes and Lee Kerr.
Glen was over the moon to have claimed the top prize.
“It’s absolutely brilliant.
“It was the first time we entered the awards so I never expected to win. I thought we’d turn up and enjoy the night.
“With everything that’s gone on over the past couple of years, it’s nice to get back to normal and be back at these competitions.”
The salon on Auld Bond Street opened in 2019, but was forced to close for large periods of 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Glen said the award was recognition of the work that has gone in to making the business a success.
He added: “There’s been a lot of hard work over the last couple of years.
“Everyone has been churning away putting in a lot of effort, so it was amazing to be rewarded.”
Glen said he was “shocked and ecstatic” when the Perth salon – which counts Olympic curling star Eve Muirhead as one of its customers – was announced as the winners.
“We’ve got a great business but I was completely shocked – gobsmacked.”
‘The tears were flowing’
The business was one of five Tayside and Fife winners at the awards ceremony in Glasgow.
Dundee salon Hard Grind collected two awards, with Dean Currie named best barber and Peter Healy winning best male stylist.
The Exchange Street salon paid tribute to its winners on social media.
“The sore heads and foggy memories today are beyond worth it.
“What a night, what a team and what an honour to watch these two grab the Best Barber and Best Male Stylist awards! The tears were flowing.
“Incredible achievement and so thoroughly deserved.”
Meanwhile, Perth’s Debbie Cameron-MacPhee won the best sport/massage therapist category.
A post on her Facebook page said: “Debbie would like to thank all her lovely clients for voting, family and friends for supporting her along the way.
“And thank SHABA for amazing night and for Debbie’s award.”
Nadia Ramage of Skin Queen in Dundee was named best social media influencer.
She said: “Thank you so much to all my clients, friends and family you are all amazing.
“The amount of creative talent under one roof was unbelievable, I’m still buzzing.”
