It’s a new 18-hole course that will test any golfer coming to St Andrews.
Clayton Caravan Park has invested £600,000 to create an adventure golf course – and the hook is it’s full of St Andrews landmarks.
There are links to the Old Course, with a replica Swilcan bridge and burn and the infamous 17th road hole bunker.
Giving participants a slice of the Fife town, there’s also St Andrews Castle, the Cathedral, University and Martyr’s Monument.
Golfing ability is no handicap to having fun and there could be a scramble when it opens on Wednesday.
St Andrews landmarks ‘integral’ part of adventure golf course
Andrew Kennedy, managing director of Clayton Caravan Park, said he was proud to bring another attraction in north east Fife to the fore.
He said: “There’s been lots of interest in the course – there’s nothing else like it in the area. Construction started last November.
“The St Andrews landmarks are all integral to the course – you are playing through them, round them.
“Some of the structures are 2.5 metres high and the detail is fantastic.”
The course is part of a £3m investment made at Clayton Caravan Park in the last two years.
It follows a major spend on a new leisure complex at the facility between Cupar and St Andrews.
How much does it cost?
The adventure golf course is a par 41 – with five par 3s and 13 par 2s.
Clayton Adventure Golf costs £9.50 for an adult, £7.50 for children and £29.95 for a family ticket. Clubs, balls and scorecards are included.
It will be open all year round, subject to weather conditions. It is open to the public as well as holiday park residents.
Andrew adds: “The course is pretty challenging. We didn’t want to make it too easy as we want people to come back and try it again.
“We’re delighted with how it’s turned out. It’s a great addition to our facilities here and the wider area.”
