A Fife woman who worked in social care for three decades is now running her own takeaway.

Tracey Pedder has opened Nourish on the Crossgate in Cupar to offer healthy takeaway options.

From wraps, bagels, smoothies to soups, salads and baked potatoes, she wants to encourage people of all ages to try a healthier takeaway option.

Tracey said: “I think more people than ever are looking for a healthier option for breakfast, lunch and snacks.

“When I used to come into Cupar, I felt there was not a lot of options for healthier takeaway foods.

“That inspired me to open my own takeaway and offer people healthier options.”

Partnering with other local businesses

She praised chef Lucy Spendlow for her work in setting up the menu.

And the Fife takeaway business has formed links with local gyms.

“I’m hoping that will encourage young people to eat healthier as well,” she said.

Her takeaway – which has three members of staff – opened recently in a former vape shop.

Before that, the shop was Hunter Goldsmiths for three decades.

It required extensive renovation work before Tracey was able to move in.

Nourish has been well supported by the local community, Tracey, who lives in Kingskettle, added.

“Business has been really good so far – we’ve been very well received.

“We’re getting people coming back, and the links with the gyms have been really positive as well.

“We’re really pleased with the support we’ve had so far.”

Next steps for Fife takeaway

Tracey is already looking at branching out with her business venture. She’s been approached about starting outside catering for local businesses.

“That’s our next step,” she said.

Tracey also received support from Business Gateway Fife, which helped with funding and advice.

Catherine Bartle, Business Gateway Fife’s HR adviser, said: “Tracey has created an excellent business model that fills a niche in the busy Cupar town centre.

“She is also focusing on minimising packaging, using sustainable materials and keeping food waste to a minimum which is another step forward to achieving net zero.”
