Dundee cleaning product manufacturer and supplier Ecoanolytes has secured funding of £400,000 to progress its growth plans.
The chief executive of the company behind the Dew range of cleaning products has said previously he wants his business to make hundreds of millions of pounds a year.
The six-figure funding will allow the firm to grow the Dew brand across the UK and increase product distribution.
Ecoanolytes, based at West Gourdie Industrial Estate, now offers more than 30 products.
The firm has also developed ranges for child care, pet care, home care and personal care.
Ecoanolytes offers a 100% natural mineral-based cleanser and sanitiser using the power of electrolyzed water – hence the Dew name meaning Dundee electrolysed water.
Its innovative technology is highly sustainable.
The manufacturing process produces no by-product or waster, while Dew’s refillable and reusable containers reduce single use plastic, cutting CO2 emissions by up to 5.18kg per container.
Huge demand for Dundee cleaning firm’s products
Chief executive Erik Smyth said: “Over the last couple of years we have seen demand for our completely natural products soar.
“Containing no harsh chemicals, our products are more effective than alcohol and bleach and have recently out-performed the world’s leading brand in cleaning on independent tests carried out by Eurofins in France.
“After increasing our manufacturing capacity to meet demand, our latest funding will support the next phase of our growth journey.
“That is to get Dew products into households all over the UK.”
Mr Smyth formed Ecoanolytes in 2018 after discovering the cleaning properties of electrolysed water can be 30 times the power of bleach. It is also safe to drink if accidentally swallowed.
The funding deal was supported by the specialist high growth team at Thorntons.
Alistair Lang, partner and head of high growth at Thorntons, said: “As a fellow Dundee headquartered business, we’re proud to have supported growth for a business on our doorstep.
“It’s great to see another dynamic, sustainably minded and Scottish-based business achieve success.”
