A Perthshire hotel is submitting fresh plans for a multi-million-pound extension which could create hundreds of jobs.
The owners of Murrayshall Country Estate intend to invest around £30 million on the venue near Scone.
This includes an extension to the hotel, the erection of lodges, a new café and spa and leisure facilities.
Owner Stellar Asset Management has already spent £1m on refurbishing 14 of its suites. A new restaurant, Eolas, opened in April.
The plans could bring 250 jobs to the popular venue, almost quadrupling the current workforce.
The plans were withdrawn earlier this year “following a review of the proposals and feedback from stakeholders”.
However, the hotel has now submitted a proposal of application notice to Perth and Kinross Council. This starts a statutory 12-week pre-application consultation period.
What are the Murrayshall plans?
The hotel extension is significant – with the initial plans for it to double in size.
Owners intend to form camping grounds including the erection of glamping pods. An outdoor sports ground is also part of the proposal.
The plans also include the potential for a solar farm as well as access, drainage and landscaping.
Gary Silcock, general manager for Murrayshall Country Estate, said: “We have listened to the local community and have reconsidered our aspirations for the future of the estate. We are now bringing forward new plans for consultation.
“The masterplan we are bringing forward would generate substantial benefits for the local economy, and would provide a sustainable future for the estate, ensuring its resiliency for decades to come.
“I would encourage anyone with an interest in the proposals to view our project website and to attend our consultation events.”
Consultation
A public consultation event will take place at Murrayshall on December 12 from 1pm to 7pm. A further event takes place on January 31.
Representatives from the project team will be available to answer questions.
More information will be available here in early December.
Built in 1664, Murrayshall dates back over 400 years.
Murrayshall House was modernised in the 18th century and in 1973 the estate became the luxury hotel it is today.
The land spans over 365 acres including woodland, part of the River Tay, two parkland golf courses and stately gardens.
