Visitors to St Andrews will benefit from an enhanced mobile network in the Fife town this festive season.
That is because EE has upgraded its 5G mobile network in time for the traditionally busy festive shopping period.
With many Christmas markets opening for the first time since Covid, high streets are expecting an increase in festive shoppers.
EE, part of BT Group, has provided the improved and enhanced connectivity across St Andrews.
Quicker internet access will allow traders more reliable connections.
It should enhance transactions like card and wireless payments for businesses in the town.
‘Crucial for customers and traders alike’
BT Group’s chief networks officer Greg McCall said: “There is nothing like the sights and smells of a Christmas market.
“Ensuring the availability of high capacity, super-fast connectivity is crucial for customers and traders alike.
“As we continue to invest in and expand our 5G network, we’re thrilled to be powering Christmas market destinations across more of the UK.”
The news forms part of an announcement from EE which has revealed that 150 new locations have been added to the 5G network.
5G is now delivering faster mobile network speeds to communities beyond dense urban areas. That is allowing a growing number of towns to benefit.
The announcement comes after a set of stringent criteria were met to reach EE’s unique quality standards for announcing 5G coverage.
