A challenger to the Big Six energy suppliers has snapped up Fife-based boiler and home service repair group CORGI HomePlan.
Bristol headquartered Ovo Energy said thecombination of the firms’ individual technology platforms will create a significant new player in the UK intelligent energy services marketplace.
Around 90 staff are based at CORGI’s Dunfermline contact centre and they have all been retained and transferred over to Ovo under TUPE regulations.
The Fife group was founded in 2011 and has since grown to be the third largest home service provider in the UK.
It offers a range of boiler repair and maintenance, plumbing and electrics plans and its UK-wide network is supported by 5,000 specialist engineers.
Ovo chief executive Stephen Fitzpatrick said he was delighted to welcome CORGI HomePlan to the group.
“The adoption of new technologies such as smart meters, heating controls, batteries, and electric vehicles will transform the market for both energy and home services,” Mr Fitzpatrick said.
“By combining OVO and CORGI HomePlan’s brands and technology platforms, we are now uniquely placed to offer customers intelligent energy services to power their homes.”
The CORGI business will continue to be led by current managing director and Fife Chamber of Commerce president Peter Southcott.
Under the new regime, Ovo’s current in-home network will now offer boiler, thermostat and a range of other services.
“This is very good news for our team in Dunfermline, our customers and our engineers,” Mr Southcott said.
“Becoming part of OVO opens up a new world of possibilities for CORGI HomePlan – expanding the services we can offer our customers, increasing the work we bring to our network of engineers, and strengthening the skills we have in our teams.
“OVO and CORGI HomePlan are a natural fit, we share the same core values – great customer service and fair pricing.
“This deal is about growth.
“This will help the CORGI HomePlan name to continue to go from strength to strength and makes us an even stronger proposition in the market place.”
