A multi-million-pound luxury lodge development in Highland Perthshire has reported a Brexit bounce.
The £6 million Balloch Park development is being built on the Mains of Taymouth Estate at Kenmore.
The site will eventually be home to 38 two- and three-bedroom lodges but the process will take time as each property is being built to order by Blairish Restorations.
However, activity at the site has picked up in the months since the Brexit vote as the pound weakened and made investment more attractive.
Mains of Taymouth managing director Robin Menzies said the decision to leave the EU had resulted in a “hugely positive effect” on the group’s investment lettings portfolio.
“We have always believed the estate had the potential to offer residential living, as we have created what is now a proven location that people want to buy into, it’s a real community,” Mr Menzies said.
“Never has this been more true than in this post-Brexit time we find ourselves in, which is having a hugely positive effect on our investment lettings portfolio.
“Buyers are looking to put their money into property once again, and the market is most definitely there for downsizers and those approaching retirement to buy a permanent home here at a very affordable price.
“We have a major opportunity to take our award-winning business to another level with Balloch Park.”
The site, which has a riverside location almost directly opposite the spectacular Taymouth Castle, will be developed in two distinct phases, with 16 lodges to be built initially and a further 22 to follow at a later date.
Plans for the development were first raised with Perth and Kinross Council in 2013 and it was suggested at the time that the park could ultimately be worth more than £16m to the local economy through a combination of direct and indirect spend.
