Perth and Kinross Council offers Modern Apprentice opportunities in 19 different occupational areas, including early years care, adult care, business & administration, horticulture, facilities services, electrical and many more.
The council has recently recruited the first group of early years care Modern Apprentices. These Modern Apprentices are based within nurseries throughout the area, offering opportunities to allow young people to gain the skills, knowledge, experience and the qualification required to progress into a valuable career.
Early Years is an area of grown for jobs and development opportunities and it would be a perfect time to start your career in this area.
Erin Little, early years care Modern Apprentice and is keen to encourage young people to consider a Modern Apprenticeship.
She said: “It’s a good way to gain experience, develop new skills and achieve a qualification. It lets you earn money as well as work towards a qualification of your choice”.
Erin has always enjoyed working with children and finds the role very rewarding knowing she is making a positive difference to children’s lives.
Erin left school and started work in retail, however, when seeing the opportunity to undertake this Modern Apprenticeship she jumped at the chance and has never looked back.
Perth and Kinross Council will be inviting applications for a range of Modern Apprenticeships in May, August and December this year. They are particularly keen to hear from young people who are interested in a career in early years or adult care.
