Fife-based glazing company CR Smith has reported growing revenues from its domestic and commercial arms.
The Dunfermline-headquartered home improvement company said the uplift in sales was due to increased demand from homeowners for conservatories and orangeries as well as more complex installations for commercial clients.
Turnover for CR Smith Glaziers (Dunfermline) Ltd, which encompasses the firm’s domestic sales and installations operation, rose by £1.1 million to £23.5m for the year ending August 31.
The domestic arm’s pre-tax profits were £134,000 during the financial year.
Revenues for firm’s commercial arm, CR Smith Manufacturing Limited, stood at £8.9m at the end of the financial year, a £700,000 increase from 2017.
The commercial arm’s pre-tax profits were £98,000.
CR Smith has a state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Cowdenbeath and also has bases in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and Inverness.
It employing nearly 400 staff in manufacturing, installation, sales and customer service roles.
Gerard Eadie purchased the company as a 22-year-old and has led the group for the last 45 years.
He said: “Our desire to keep innovating and keep developing our products is as strong as ever.
“We have continually developed our products to meet customers’ needs and that is reflected in the latest accounts.”
The company’s growth over the past decade is attributed to continued reinvestment in the brand as well as the firm’s operations and product development.

“We are efficiently manufacturing the very best window products here in Scotland for Scottish homes and that capability is increasingly recognised by housebuilders.”
CR Smith has invested more than £100,000 into its bespoke apprenticeship programme over the last four years.
The apprenticeship course is tailored to meet the skills required by the home improvement firm.
The company’s apprentice joiners attend classes in the evening, which are delivered by Fife College.
