An Aberdeen-headquartered firm which provides lifting equipment and inspection services will open an office at the Port of Dundee today.

1st Integrated Solutions’ managing director Martin Suttie said an increasing number of its customers were based in Dundee and praised the efforts of Forth Ports at attracting work into the city.

He said: “We can see a pipeline of work. A lot of our customers are coming to Dundee and we can see the potential for new customers. It wasn’t a difficult decision to move to Dundee.

“Forth Ports are doing a great job of attracting rigs into Dundee and that looks to be a well trodden path going forward as well.”

The company manufactures wire rope products in Aberdeen and also provides equipment rental services.

“We are customer led so we go where the customer needs us. It’s obviously better for them if we have equipment on the ground,” Mr Suttie added.

“We won’t be alone in helping to bring business to Dundee but we will certainly be able to help the offering of Forth Ports – they’ll be able to say there’s a company on the ground with lifting equipment and that will help attract more rigs.

“There equipment we supply will be of interest for offshore wind work as well.”

David Webster, senior port manager at Port of Dundee, said: “We have a wide range of complementary businesses now located at the port, which is attractive to current and future customers.”
