A growing Dundee architect’s practice is using a move new premises as a “springboard” to larger projects.
A policy of “organic growth” at Jon Frullani Architect has seen the firm outgrow their current base at District 10 in the city’s Greenmarket.
The firm, now in its eighth year of trading, will move to the building which previously contained the Mint Tapas bar and restaurant on Perth Road.
Company owner Jon Frullani said their current premises, which are split into three separate offices, was beginning to inhibit the growth of the firm.
The new site, originally a 19th century villa, will also become the company’s shop front.
Mr Frullani, who began his practice in the spare room of his home, said the firm’s growth had seen the company take on staff at a rate of around one every six months.
It currently employs 12 full-time members of staff and four students.
He said: “The new site will allow us to unify the team in the same location, which is important as we take on increasingly larger projects.
“Having said that, we remain a diverse practice and will continue to deliver for clients on developments of all sizes.”
Mr Frullani estimates the refurbishment of the new premises will take around six months and will see the retention of a number of original features.
“This is an opportunity for us to show clients and potential clients the range and quality of services we provide – it will effectively be a shop window for us,” he said.
“For us, this move is also the embodiment of good architectural design, regenerating the built environment to the benefit of the community,” he added.
The firm will continue its “current trajectory” of organic growth.
