The new manager of Circular Tayside – a group to promote the circular economy – is urging businesses to find out more about opportunities available for firms to become more green.
The circular economy is the adoption of innovative products or business models that sees waste reduced, re-used or recycled, with an emphasis on increasing the product life cycle.
Circular Tayside is backed by Dundee and Angus Chamber of Commerce, Perthshire Chamber of Commerce and Zero Waste Scotland.
The project offers education, advice and access to funding, to local organisations that have a new idea of how to manage their waste.
The support covers advice and funding and is aimed at firms that want to create a product or move to a business model that reduces or reutilise waste.
Circular Tayside manager Vaso Makri, who was appointed in August, is a dedicated resource for local organisations and a link between businesses, chambers and Zero Waste Scotland.
She said: “With the chambers’ great record in business engagement and Zero Waste Scotland’s expertise in waste management, the project looks to give local organisations new ideas for their waste.
“We are especially keen to work on collaborative projects – for example one business managing another firm’s waste.
“Some examples of business activities that have received support in Tayside are an innovative waste management system that can process plastics in Perthshire and a 3D printing business in Angus.”
Circular Tayside is offering one to one meetings with businesses, social enterprises and third sector groups to find out about opportunities.
Circular Tayside can assist with applications to the Circular Economy Investment Fund, which is funded from the European Regional Development Fund.
