Young farmers involved in Perth & District JAC have issued an urgent appeal to past members to come back and help keep their 76-year-old club alive.
Secretary Charlotte Paterson explained the team who run the club have very little experience of being on a committee and urgently require support and advice from previous members.
“Our annual meeting is taking place on March 15th and the experience of older members would be so valuable in helping us continue to enjoy the club as they did in the past,” she said.
“Many of our current members are second, third, maybe even fourth generation of past and founder members so we really do want to do them proud and keep the club going in the future.
“We would like to invite people from all walks of life to join and see that it’s not all about who can drive a tractor and pick out a cracking tup.
“It’s called ‘young farmers’ but please don’t be put off, you really don’t have to know a New Holland from a John Deere – we can teach you that.”
Charlotte said club membership had been steady but was no longer thriving.
“We would like to change this,” she said.
“Being part of Perth & District JAC will give you friends, memories, and experiences you will treasure for life.”
The club’s annual meeting next Sunday will take place in Dunbarney Church Hall, Bridge of Earn, and it starts at 7pm.
Everyone is welcome.
