A bumper Central and West Fife Show will take place at Hilton Farm near Kelty on Saturday.
Dedicated local breeders will compete for the top trophies alongside livestock enthusiasts who are travelling from as far afield as Shetland and Northumberland. Show chairman Ryan Nelson reports entry numbers and a big turnout of more than 130 cattle and 140 sheep is expected.
The Clydesdale horse section has also seen an increase in entries since last year and has been boosted by the new class for driven Clydesdale teams of three or four in twin axle farm wagon or commercial vehicles.
The show also holds Royal Highland Show young master qualifier and National Pony Society qualifiers for the finals at Blair Horse Trials.
The main contented trophies are the champion of champions cup, presented by The Royal Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland, and the Fordell cup, which is a point cup for the exhibitor gaining the highest number of points in the cattle, sheep, goats and Clydesdale horse classes, exclusive of the open sections.
For young farmers there are two regional qualifies for the Royal Highland Show. The ready steady country cook competition, will have nine teams of two cooks, who will be competing in the craft marquee in the morning. In the afternoon the tug o war competition will have six male and five female teams.
The Royal Highland Education Trust will be in attendance showing children how to milk a cow and there will be a farm petting tent with calves, lambs, piglets and baby chicks. There will also be a display by the renowned Mordor gun dogs.
