A 1960 Fordson Dexta tractor is being driven around 1600 miles of Scottish coastline in aid of Cancer Research UK and St Margaret’s Hospital in Auchterarder.
The vintage tractor is being driven by David McLaren (78) from Blackford in Perthshire who plans to take three weeks to complete his journey. Mr McLaren completed the route from Land’s End to John O’Groats in 2003 and is making this trip in memory of his wife Elizabeth who died of cancer in 2014.
Wearing his kilt and tackety boots, he set off from Perth to travel round the coastline of Fife before spending his first night in Stirling. He sleeps in the specially built trailer which he is towing, and intends to attend a few agricultural events along the way.
In the final week Mr McLaren plans to travel around the north-east coast before moving on to the Angus coastline and the northern shore of the Tay.
