One of Stirling bull sales top honours went home to Glenisla’s Doldy Farms when their heifer won the reserve supreme Beef Shorthorn championship on her first ever outing.
She is Eastmill Lovely June, an 18-month-old heifer by Blelack Camelot and out of Eastmill Lovely Expression, shown by delighted herd managers Pamela Nicol and Scott Marshall.
She was pipped at the post by the female champion, a 16-month-old heifer, Castlemount Matrix Zoe from Northern Ireland breeder, Duncan McDowell of Newtonards. This heifer is the first to be offered for sale from his new stock bull, Elliot Matrix, purchased privately from John Elliot.
Breed judge Sally Horrell from Peterborough described her as a smart heifer with a superb top line.
The supreme male champion came from A Haigh of Ashgrove Farm, Market Rasen. His winning sire was Willingham Jagersfontein, a March 2015-born son of Chapelton Winsome. Ms Horrell said he was “a stylish young bull that moved well and was nicely fleshed”.
And in reserve supreme place was the 19-month-old sire, Chapelton Junot from Donald Biggar, Grange, Castle Douglas. This bull is one of the first sons of the sire Fergus of Upsall.
