Ayrshire breeders Jack and Grace Ramsay won the supreme Beef Shorthorn championship at Stirling with the breed’s intermediate champion, Millerston Jamboree.
This May 2015-born son of Meonhill Charlie Chaplin was praised as being ‘full of character and balance’.by the breed judge, George Somerville from Dumfries.
“He’s a sweet bull, with great breed character,” he said.
Speaking more generally about the show of just under 100 bulls, Mr Somerville said  the top end had been good, but there was a tail off in quality.
In reserve place was the senior champion, Uppermill Supreme from James Porter, Dromore, Lisburn. Mr Porter runs a herd of 55 pedigree Shorthorns which was established in 1882 and have had notable previous successes, with another supreme champion sire two years ago, which sold for 8000gns.
The junior champion was Castlemount Jetliner, a July 2015-born son of Elliot Matrix from Duncan McDowell, Newtonards, Co Down.
The reserve junior champion came from Douglas McMillan, Moneydie Roger, Luncarty. Coldrochie Jurassic is a June 2015 son of Knockenjig Foremost.
The reserve intermediate champion was Priestland Con 5th, a April 2015 son of Craigfaddock Everest from D Alexander, Clough, Ballymena.
And in reserve senior place was Knockenjig Jetstream from David and Rosemary Dickie, Knockenjig, Sanquhar. This  March 2015-born bull is a son of Tofts Whisky.
Thurso Shorthorn breeders, the Macadie family from Skaill, swept the boards in the female classes, winning the championship with Lancaster Liz 21st of Skaillhouse, a March 2015-born daughter of Glenisla Faust.
Her half-sister, Lancaster Liz 20th of Skaill, born just 10 days earlier, took the reserve rosette.
