Angus show’s proud champion of champions and the winner of the prestigious Millennium trophy was a 15-month-old Highland pony, Islay Malt of Coynach.
Owned by Lynn McDonald, Mains of Coynach, Tarland, and shown by her father Bill Chapman, this colt won the championship honour at the North East of Scotland Highland Pony Enthusiasts Society show at Dyce and is destined for the north-east show circuit.
In reserve interbreed place in the horse section was Mawcarse Lady Dionne. The Shetland pony from Donna Lochtie has had a great start to the show season after taking the supreme award at Fife and the breed’s Central Scotland show.
This home-bred pony is by Stow Vulcan and out of Hawkdale Dixie.
In the cattle lines the top award went to Aileen Ritchie from Tamala at Whitecairns, Aberdeen, for a two-year-old heifer on her first show outing. She was Ritchies Meyrl, destined for the Royal Highland Show and other shows in the north-east.
Reserve interbreed place went to the Charolais champion from Abbie Anderson, Arbirlot, Angus. She was Edenhurst Jou Jou, a three-year-old cow by Ratoary Ferguson.
The interbreed sheep champion came from the ‘any other breed’ classes, and was the one-crop Charollais ewe from William and Carol Irgram, Logie Durno Farm, Inverurie. This daughter of Crogham Hannibal and Riverdale Iris was second at last year’s Royal Highland Show.
The Suffolk champion from Graeme Christie took the reserve interbreed award. She was a home-bred one crop ewe by Deveronside Doodlebug.
