Four young riders from Courier Country pony clubs have been selected to represent Scotland at the Under-18 Eventing Championships at Frickley Park Horse Trials, Yorkshire, later this week.
Pollyanna Smith, 17, and Emma Webster, 17, both members of Fife Pony Club are no strangers to the event, having competed there last year on their horses Castleroche Star and The Face of Rome. They are delighted to be returning as part of the two-star team alongside first-timer Ellie Bryce and Lacoste from Stirling.
The other team, which competes at BE100 level includes Strathearn Pony Club members Iona Landale (Sioux Dreamcatcher) and Jemima Cross (Village Crescendo). Brook Walker of Angus Pony Club is also looking forward to her first trip to the championships with Shannondale Flight.
The only boy to be selected is Roan Grant from Aboyne who rides Caballo Rojo. He is based with Wills Oakden at Methven for the summer, who is helping him with his training.
The group has been training at Lindores Equestrian, Newburgh, which won Equestrian Business of the Year 2019. Anna Black of Lindores Equestrian said: “We try to make the facilities here accessible to all people for training and we love to encourage people to chase their dreams.
“We are very proud to see these young riders doing so well and having the opportunity to represent their country.”
