A section of the A92 through Fife will be closed this weekend as resurfacing works get under way.
The road will be closed in both directions between the New Inn roundabout and Melville Lodges roundabout from 7.30pm today until 6.30am on Monday.
Teams will work around the clock to ensure the carriageways reopen on time and a short diversion will be in place via the A914 and the A91.
The closure will form part of the first phase of £620,000 of improvements near Ladybank, which will address defects on the road.
The second phase will take place from Monday to Wednesday next week, from 7.30pm until 6.30am.
During this period temporary traffic lights and a 10mph convoy system will be in operation, although the road will be open as normal during the day.
Andy Thompson, from Bear Scotland, said: “This £620,000 investment from Transport Scotland will greatly improve this section of the A92 by removing any existing surface defects and creating a smoother and safer journey for motorists.
“We’ve taken steps to minimise disruption for motorists as much as possible during the improvements, including carrying out the majority of works over one weekend and programming the remainder of the improvements to take place overnight.”
Motorists have been thanked in advance for their patience, with Mr Thompson adding: “We encourage all road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date traffic information and allow some extra time.”
