The Tay Road Bridge was forced to close to all vehicles for more than an hour after stormy weather conditions swept into the local area on Saturday morning.
High winds meant the crossing had to be shut on safety grounds from the Dundee to the Fife ends from 8am until about 9.30am.
It comes as Scotland prepares to be battered by a major downpour on Saturday – with a string of flood warnings in place in Tayside.
At 8am, staff at the Tay Rod Bridge posted to Twitter: “Bridge closed due to high winds.”
A Traffic Scotland statement reads: “Due to the current high winds, the Tay Road Bridge has been closed to all vehicles.”
It reopened to cars and single-decker buses at about 9.30am. The pathway is closed and a 30mph limit is in place.

Similar restrictions were in place from 7am, prior to the total closure.

A Met Office yellow warning for rain is in place for parts of Perthshire.
The forecaster has warned of “persistent and heavy rain” throughout Saturday.

The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (Sepa) has issued a flood alert for Tayside, along with eight more serious warnings for parts of Perthshire.
The warnings are in place for the following areas:
- Upper Tay
- Pitlochry to Ballinluig
- Logierait to Jubilee Bridge
- Innerpeffray to Bridge of Earn
- Glen Lyon
- Crieff to Innerpeffray
- Carse of Lennoch to Lochlane
- Ballinluig to Logierait
