Perth Autism Support will deliver sessions this month aimed at supporting autistic young people in using public transport.
The group will work alongside Stagecoach on its first group sessions.
Chief Executive Officer of Perth Autism Support, Angie Ferguson said: “There are many elements of public transport that can create barriers for our young people.
“Within our young adult team we work with young people aged 14-18 years to develop confidence in using [public transport] to help develop independence and allow them easier access to wider community facilities.
“We know that some of our young people require a bit more time to process information and that becomes easier when they are in a comfortable environment.
“We hope that the sessions that are relaxed and can be done at their own pace, will provide the right environment to explore, ask questions and get used to the bus environment, Â before starting to move into working through their individual travel plan with the ultimate goal of independent travel.”
The sessions will be held from February 19 to 21 at different times and locations, and should be booked on Eventbrite.
