A man is in hospital following a crash which forced the partial-closure of one of the busiest roads in the Mearns on Tuesday.
The A90 Dundee to Aberdeen road was shut southbound at Fordoun, north of Laurencekirk, for more than seven hours following a collision involving a white van and a Müller milk tanker at about 9.30am.
Police, firefighters and paramedics were called to the incident.
The van was left a crumpled wreck following the crash, with milk from the tanker said to have spilled out across the A90.
A man, believed to be the van driver, was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
A police spokeswoman said: “Police were called around 9.20am to the A90 southbound at Fordoun following a crash between a van and an HGV.
“A man has been taken to hospital for treatment. The northbound lane is open but southbound lane is still closed.”

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We received a call at 9.20am today to attend a road traffic collision on the A90 near Fordoun.
“We dispatched two ambulances and our trauma team to the scene. We transported one male patient to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.”
A fire and rescue spokeswoman said four appliances – from Stonehaven, Laurencekirk, Montrose and North Anderson Drive in Aberdeen – were sent to the scene at 9.30am.
She said: “We were in attendance. Two lorries were involved and equipment in use was hydraulic rescue equipment.”
Major tailbacks were reported on the roads surrounding Fordoun as a result of the closure.
The A90 was shut off just south of Fordoun, with a local diversion put in place.
Motorists were being redirected on to the A92 Stonehaven to Dundee coastal road.
Traffic was said to be heavy on the route between Inverbervie and Montrose, as well as on the country roads in the area.
Stagecoach East Scotland services through Angus and the Mearns were also delayed.

On Tuesday morning Traffic Scotland posted: “The A90 is closed southbound after Fordoun due to a road traffic accident.
“Road users are advised to use an alternative route at this time and allow extra time for their journey.”
The road was fully reopened at about 5pm.
