Fife’s largest bus operator is understood to be mulling over timetable changes to maintain essential services and safeguard jobs – but there has been no decision as yet.
With public transport still key for people who are continuing to work, particularly health and social care staff, there have been suggestions services could be curtailed to ensure the sector is sustainable in the long-term.
Rumours have circulated that a reduced Sunday service could soon be implemented, but Stagecoach has insisted that it will be business as usual as far as possible.
A spokesperson for Stagecoach East Scotland said: “We are evaluating on a regular basis what the latest government guidelines on social distancing and non-essential travel mean for the delivery of public transport services moving forward at this difficult time for the country.
“When any final decisions are taken which affect the current scope of public transport provision, we will ensure there is advance notice of changes and full details are available to the customers and the communities we serve.”
