Scottish Water is holding an information event later this month to inform West End residents about a major programme of roadworks planned for the summer.
Sections of Perth Road will be reduced to one-way traffic while the work, which involves the lining and flushing of existing water mains, takes place in July.
Traders on Perth Road have said they fear the road closures may affect business.
The drop-in event will take place at Blackness Road Library between 3 and 7.30pm on Thursday April 28.
All customers from the section of Perth Road between Hawkhill junction to the Nethergate – and adjoining side-streets – are being encouraged by Scottish Water to attend.
The work is part of a £5 million programme of upgrades to be carried out in Dundee.
Some initial work is expected to be carried out in the area from late May, with the main work on Perth Road itself from early July – with traffic management in place.
As part of the wider communications, businesses and residents will also be encouraged to sign up for text message updates during the works.
Ruaridh MacGregor, Scottish Water’s community team manager for Dundee, said: “The work we are set to carry out is essential for the long term water supply. By refurbishing our water mains, it will ensure that the water supply network continues to provide water quality of the highest standard.”
