Locked-down locals nostalgic for a bit of travel can now take part in a popular train journey through Tayside and Fife from the comfort of their homes.
London North Eastern Railway (LNER) has uploaded rare driver’s view footage of the Edinburgh to Aberdeen leg of its route – taking in the kingdom, Dundee and Angus.
Some of Scotland’s most beloved views are included in the journey, which encompasses the Angus coastline, the Montrose Basin and both the Tay Rail and Forth bridges.
The footage was filmed on an Azuma train.
LNER – which operates rail journeys from London’s King’s Cross to Inverness – has been uploading a new piece of footage from its services every week during lockdown.
People have been unable to use the country’s rail network except for essential travel since the start of the lockdown in March. LNER has been operating a reduced service due to the pandemic.
A LNER spokeswoman said: “Over the past few weeks, we have been releasing a different driver’s eye view journey each week on the LNER YouTube channel, giving our audiences the chance to enjoy a virtual in-cab ride.
“It is the first time the films have been shared in their entirety with our social media audiences and this week, our journey takes viewers from Edinburgh to Aberdeen.”
