He was taken to Ninewells Hospital following the one-vehicle crash on the A85 near Crieff Golf Club at around 9am. Despite the severity of his injuries, police said they were “not life-threatening”.

The A85 road closed in both directions near Crieff Golf Club due to a serious crash.

“A 55-year-old man has been taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee with serious injuries, however they are not thought to be life-threatening.

“Thank you to everyone affected by this incident for your patience and understanding.”

Motorists travelling on the route had been diverted towards the A9.

BEAR Scotland, the organisation responsible for managing and maintaining trunk roads, assisted the police by implementing the diversion route.

A spokesman for the organisation said: “Our teams assisted Police Scotland following the RTC on the A85 near Crieff Golf Club this morning by installing a diversion route for motorists.

“This included erecting ‘road closed’ signs at West Huntingtower to safely divert motorists towards the A9, from which they could join the A923 at Auchterarder to reach the A85 at Crieff where they could continue their journey.

“The road reopened at around 11.40am and all diversion routes have since been stood down.”
