Dundee’s bus operators have launched a new initiative which will allow users to travel on all three services with one ticket.
Xplore Dundee, Stagecoach and Moffat and Williamson launched the All Bus Companies (ABC) ticket on Thursday.
The three operators will now accept passes from each other, which Scottish transport minister Humza Yousaf hopes will encourage more people to use public transport.
He said: “Enabling transport users to have one ticket they can use across multiple operators is a key commitment, one which should help encourage more people out of their cars and on to public transport.
“Smart-ticketing is only possible through the cooperation of stakeholders and I would like to thank them for that.”
A smart card is a plastic card with an embedded microchip which stores passengers travel tickets.
It has been designed to allow travellers access to all operators and all routes within Dundee and surrounding areas.
