A Glasgow man has been detained after falling asleep on top of a police van outside Dundee railway station.
Clutching a wine bottle, he climbed on top of the van at Dundee railway station to the bemusement of passers-by.
Officers had to climb on to the roof to wake the man and help him down.
Witnesses said the man had been seen in the area of the station for around an hour.
One said: “He had a wine bottle in his hand and was barely able to stand. At one point he nearly staggered into traffic at the lights. I have no idea how he managed to get on top of the police vehicle.”
Members of the public watched as the man made the short trip from the top of the van and into the back.
“It caused quite a stir,” the witness added. “I have never seen the like of it. It initially seemed quite amusing, but actually it is quite sad. He looked in quite a state.”
A spokesman from British Transport Police (BTP) said: “At 3pm (on Thursday), officers were called to Dundee railway station after reports of a disturbance.
“A 45-year-old man from Glasgow was taken into police custody on charges of breach of the peace, where inquiries will continue.”
