A woman is in hospital after suffering a serious head injury in a collision with a bus in Dundee.
Police confirmed they were called to the incident in Johnston Avenue around 11.10am on Thursday morning.
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “A woman was involved in a collision with a bus.
“They have sustained a head injury. The road has been closed from the junction with Clepington Road.”
The extent of her injuries are not yet clear.
An eyewitness said the woman, thought to be in her 30s, could be seen lying on the road in the immediate aftermath of the crash.
Locals living near the scene say buses have been rerouted via Johnston Avenue due to Kings Cross Road being closed for maintenance work. This, it is claimed, has made the junction busier and more dangerous.
One elderly driver said: “My friend and I hate driving past the little circle at the junction.
“It is always so busy and you’re never quite sure who is going to go.
“Buses are being redirected up Johnston Avenue because Kings Cross Road is closed.
“Maybe the lady didn’t know that buses were going to be turning up there.
“It’s about time we get traffic lights here.”
Members of Xplore Dundee and police officers spoke to eyewitnesses at the scene of the accident.
Police confirmed Johnston Avenue reopened to the public shortly before 4pm.
A spokesperson for the Scottish Ambulance Service confirmed the service had been in attendance and transported the female victim to Ninewells Hospital.
He added that the victim’s condition remains unknown.
