Services in both directions were suspended while investigations are carried out. Nobody was hurt but the front of the train was badly damaged. Passengers on board the damaged train have been told they may be delayed for at least another hour. A spokesperson for ScotRail Alliance said: “A train has struck a tree near Burntisland. “We’re pleased to say that there are no injuries to customers or train staff reported.” Services did not resume until after 6pm.
