Vandals caused hundreds of pounds worth of damage to a bus after being disturbed lying unconscious on the road of a parking lot.
Fishers Tours driver Tony O’Brien drove into the bus company’s lot on Mid Craigie road around midnight on Friday and discovered two men lying passed out on the road next to three golf balls.
Rather than running off, the two men tried to convince Mr O’Brien to switch off his headlights so they could remain undisturbed.
Police were than called and the two men were escorted from the yard, only for it to be discovered the next morning that one of the company’s buses had been vandalised.
There is a large hand-print on the front of the bus and part of the grille has been snapped off.
There are also scuff marks where the bus has been kicked and one of the windscreen wipers has been pulled off.
Mr O’Brien said: “I came round the side of the building and they were lying in the road next to three golf balls.
“They came right up to the window and asked me to switch the engine and headlights off so they could sleeping. I don’t know if they were on drink or drugs or both.
“One of them ran into the wall and was holding himself up and the other was throwing golf balls at him to try to wake him.”
Police were called and the two men were escorted off the Fishers Tours site.
At around six o’clock the next morning it was discovered one of the buses had been damaged, either before the two men were disturbed or if they came back later and attacked the bus.
Fishers Tour owner Jim Cosgrove said: “They have caused about £1,000 worth of damage. The driver had told them to get out the yard and then phoned the police.
“They came up and spoke to the men and then let them go. We didn’t discover the damage until the next morning”.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Police Scotland is carrying out enquiries into a vandalism to a bus in yard at Mid Craigie Road, Dundee which was discovered at 7.45am of Saturday May 6.
“At around 12.30am two men were spoken to regarding their behaviour in the area.
