Train services have been affected after a vehicle collided with a railway bridge in Perth. The incident happened in the city’s Tay Street, with services to Edinburgh, Dundee and Aberdeen temporarily affected. ScotRail said: “Due to a road vehicle colliding with a bridge between #Perth and Dundee the line is closed.” The warning proved to be precautionary, with engineers subsequently confirming there appeared to have been no damage to the bridge. Checks are continuing but the line is likely to be full reopened by the time the next services pass through Perth. A spokesman for ScotRail said he hoped no services would be delayed as a result of the accident. The bridge at Perth is struck on a semi-regular basis by vehicles misjudging its height.
