A lorry veered off a busy Tayside road and landed on its side after the driver apparently took ill at the wheel. The accident happened around 3.15pm on Wednesday on the Dundee road near the Arbirlot junction in Arbroath. The driver managed to get out of the vehicle which went off the road and down the embankment. Passers-by helped the lorry driver. He was shocked but otherwise unhurt. Passing motorists stopped to help the man. One witness said: “I noticed the lorry swerve and then he went right down the embankment. “The driver was awake and breathing. “He was shocked but otherwise unhurt with just a few cuts and scratches. “He said he felt dizzy, went to pull over, blacked out and then went down the embankment.”
