Sports fans travelling to major events over the weekend escaped a repeat of traffic chaos caused by works on the Friarton Bridge.
It was feared that the closure of the route’s northbound carriageway would cause “significant” delays for thousands of people travelling to watch the Calcutta Cup rugby match in Edinburgh, along with fans going to football matches involving the Dundee teams.
Concerns were raised after similar works in September 2016 caused large-scale disruption, with one motorist claiming to took 90 minutes to travel from the Friarton Bridge to Dundee.
However the anticipated long queues failed to materialise, with motorists delayed for less than 15 minutes.
