An investigation has been launched into the sudden death of a 16-year-old boy in Fife at the weekend.
British Transport Police (BTP) said they were called at 10.56pm on Saturday following reports a person had been struck by a train at Kingskettle near Ladybank station.
A BTP spokesperson confirmed: “Officers attended alongside paramedics but sadly a boy died at the scene.
“His family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
“The death is not believed to be suspicious and so a report will be made for the procurator fiscal.”
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said it had also been called to the incident at around 11pm on Saturday and supported colleagues from the BTP.
