Firefighters were called to the busiest road through Angus after a car went up in flames on Thursday afternoon.
The vehicle blaze was reported on the northbound A90 between Brechin and Stracathro at about 2.15pm.
One fire and rescue appliance from Brechin tackled the fire.
The incident was brought under control just before 3pm, however the red car was left a ruin.
The front of the vehicle was charred with its windscreen all but gone.
A fire and rescue spokeswoman said: “We got the call at 2.16pm. A car was on fire in a layby. We had two breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet in use. The stop message came back at 2.58pm.”
She added there were no rescues or injuries.
Traffic Scotland had warned motorists to ” use caution on approach”.
