A passenger had to be evacuated from a bus in Fife after it burst into flames.
Stagecoach East Scotland has launched a full investigation into the incident on the number 28 service bus at lunchtime on Friday.
The fire service found the single decker well alight when it arrived at the scene at Steelend turning circle, north of Dunfermline, at 12.40pm.
A spokeswoman for Stagecoach said the driver had detected a fault with the vehicle and safely evacuated the only passenger on board.
“One of our vehicles, operating on service 28 at Steelend was involved in an incident today, whereby the vehicle developed a fault, and the driver detected smoke coming from the rear of the bus,” she said.
“The driver ensured that the passenger on board alighted the vehicle safely and the fire service attended, however, there was significant damage caused to the vehicle.
“Safety is our priority and we have launched a thorough investigation into the cause of the incident.”
The fire service confirmed no-one was injured in the incident.
