Scots have woken up to the sight of Spring snowfall – with travel and weather warnings across the country extended.
Almost 1ft of the white stuff was recorded at the Cairngorm Mountain car park on Wednesday morning with conditions at the resort said to be “fantastic”.
A Met Office yellow warning for snow in place across Tayside and Fife until 3pm on Wednesday has now been extended until 6pm, with flurries expected on both higher ground at lower levels.
In response to the forecast, which also predicts heavy rain and sleet, the force extended its “stage two” travel warning from 4pm on Tuesday until 3pm on Wednesday.
In Courier Country one local reported “white-out” conditions in the Kinross area, with heavy snow affecting much of Perthshire.
Drivers were forced to ditch their vehicles on the the A822 at Braco, with roads at Auchterarder, Muthill, Crieff, Glendevon and Letham described as “passable, with care due to heavy snow”.
The A9 Stirling to Perth road is also said to be affected by the freezing conditions, particularly the area around Greenloaning.
The M90 Perth to Edinburgh road around Glenfarg has also been hit by the weather.
The Cairn O’ Mount road connecting Fettercairn and Strachan is said to be “passable with care”.
The A93 Braemar to Perth road around Glenshee is open.
Another Met Office yellow warning for heavy rain and snow will be in force from noon until midnight on Wednesday, which may affect part of Fife.
