Fife bus users will have greater access to the Central Belt and better provision for wheelchair users, thanks to a massive investment by bus company Stagecoach.
Stagecoach has announced that not only will they be extending a much-used express route to carry on to Glasgow, but that they have also added 10 innovative new coaches to their fleet servicing Fife – allowing better access for people with wheelchairs.
The first of their kind, these coaches are unique because almost half the vehicle’s seating is on a low level, allowing those with mobility issues and wheelchair users easier access, for complete peace of mind.

This new vehicle investment demonstrates our commitment to making public transport greener and smarter, providing innovative, new vehicles and improving wheelchair accessibility on one of our routes to Edinburgh.
“We’re delighted to have worked with Bus Users Scotland on the design of these new coaches, their unique layout provides an easier, low floor access for those with mobility issues, without comprimising on the coach style luxury. I sincerely hope our customers enjoy their journey on these upgraded vehicles!”
The bus company have also announced that they are extending their X51 service between Fife and Livingston, so that it carries on to Glasgow city centre.
The new extended route – which begins on Monday, May 14 – will offer links up to every hour between Dunfermline, Rosyth, Ferrytoll park and ride, South Queensferry, Kirkliston, Livingston, Harthill, Eurocentral and Glasgow Buchanan bus station – Courier CommercialCouproviding a limited stop luxury coach journey throughout.
Paul Thomas added: ““Our award-winning Express City Connect coach network offers luxury and great value travel and we’re pleased we can now offer these coach services for new direct links to Glasgow to people in Livingston too.
“This route will also benefit our current customers living in areas across south Fife, providing them with a link to Glasgow without first having to make the journey to Halbeath park and ride or Dunfermline bus station.”
The X51 service will operate Monday to Sunday, allowing customers to commute to central business areas such as Eurocentral and Glasgow city centre whilst weekend day trippers can also enjoy a hassle free journey to The Centre Livingston for a day at the shops.
